Toyota GR Corolla Morizo ​​Edition: Lightweight two-seater is coming to Australia

Can Toyota GR Corolla Be any more bonkers? Of course you can. Write a new two-seat variant, known as Morijo version Foreign.

The lighter, Turkish, two-seater GR Corolla will arrive in Australia in 2023.

Toyota Australia plans to open an order book in the fourth quarter of 2022 for both regular four- and two-seater GR Corolla models, details will be released around that time.

For the two-seater model, Toyota has also tweaked 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine. It is produced in two-seater 224 kW At 6500rpm, and 400Nm Between 3250 and 4600rpm.

Although the power remains unchanged, the less practical variant has more torque of 30Nm.

Like the regular GR Corolla, the Morizo’s engine is mated to four wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. The gear ratios have been tweaked by keeping the first, second and third gears close together

Also – or for that minus – the company has lightened the car by 30 kg, initially removing the rear seats and replacing it with extra body bracing.

Toyota has added an additional 3.3m of structural adhesive to various points of the car to further enhance the rigidity.

Other changes under the skin include a modified suspension setup. The front McPherson struts are now fitted with inverted monotube shock absorbers, while the monotube shocks are attached to the rear double-wishbones.

The two-seater GR Corolla mounted on a 10mm wide rubber, replacing the 245/40 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tier standard car’s Yokohama Advan Apex V601 unit.

Inside the cabin are two-seater cast-black trim, steering wheel and faux suede material for the center console, and exclusive half-bucket seats.

The metallic matte gray paint is an option only available for those who stamp up for a two-seater GR Corolla.
