Polyester is set to launch a production version of its concept concept in 2024, called Polyester 5, and a set of patent drawings will probably take a look at the final design.
Patent drawing, first seen by Cars and driversPolyester was filed under the Department for Vehicles on May 18 at the European Union’s Intellectual Property Office.
They show a design similar to the 2020 concept but with new features you expect to see in a production car. The car in the patent drawing matches the Polyester 5 shown in a teaser image from last fall.

In the patent drawing, for example, the car lost the conventional door to the conventional coach-style back door. It also has a conventional side mirror instead of a stock-mounted camera. The concept’s roof-mounted leader system is also missing. Although Polyester 5 is expected to feature Leader, we will probably see better packaging for the system.
The Polyester 5 is a medium-sized hatch designed to go against the Porsche Tecan and the high-editor version of the Tesla Model S. It features a polyester-exclusive platform that boasts bonded aluminum construction and better torsional firmness than anything else. Polyester sees itself as a competitor to the Porsche, considering the two-door sports cars and even some supercars important. The Gili brand, along with other polyester models, uses platforms borrowed from Volvo.
Before the arrival of Polyester 5, we will see a Polyester 3 medium sized SUV. The Polestar 3 is the twin of the upcoming Volvo XC90 successor and will be released in October. Also in the pipeline is a Polyester 4, a Tesla Model Y rival that we will see sometime in 2023. Polyester has also shown a convertible concept, although there are still no production plans for such models.
