The 2023 Toyota 86 has got a new special edition variant for the new model year. Production will be limited to only 860 units.
Based on 86 premium trim levels, the defining feature of the special edition is the model-exclusive solar shift orange color. It gets a cat-back exhaust system and matte black 18-inch wheels.
No changes were made to the underside of the hood, so the special version used the same 2.4-liter Boxer-4 and 86 other models. The engine produces 228 hp and 184 pound-feet of torque and can be mated to a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. Toyota quotes 0-60 mph in 6.1 seconds with manual and automatically quotes 6.6 seconds.

2023 Toyota 86 Special Edition Solar Shift Orange
Toyota Sports-Car Twin to Subaru has made 86 debuts for the 2022 model year as the second generation of the BRZ. Toyota has added the “GR” prefix to the 86 (and earlier Sion FR-S) to align small sports cars with Supra and other vehicles in its Gazu Racing Performance lineup. In North America, that lineup is expanded to include the GR Corolla for 2023.
The 86 special edition will be sold alongside existing base and premium trim levels. For 2023, all 86 models will receive wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto instead of the wired version of the 2022 model. As before, every 86 purchases comes with a free NASA High Performance Driving Event (HPDE) and a complimentary membership with a 1-year membership of the National Auto Sport Association (NASA).
The 2023 Toyota 86 should reach US dealerships later this year. Prices will be announced closer to the launch date.
