The Toyota 4Runner comes from humble roots but today is admired for its impressive blend of reliability, toughness and versatility.
The 4Runner nameplate was introduced in 1983, which was originally a compact pickup with a canopy over the bed. It evolved into the mid-size SUV we know today with the third generation introduced in the mid-90s, the current model being sold today represents the fifth generation of nameplates.
With the arrival of the 2023 4Runner, Toyota 4Runner marks the 40th anniversary of the nameplate race with its 40th anniversary special edition. A total of 4,040 instances will be created for the United States, based on the SR5 premium grade of each 4Runner.
