BMW M on Monday released the first pictures and specs for its redesigned M2, which is set to debut in October before launching in the market next spring. In terms of time, we should come up with this as a 2023 model.
The M2 shown is a prototype, as the development of the vehicle is not yet complete. Final tests are now being held, including in Salzburg, Austria.
The new M2 is based on the redesigned 2-Series coupe launched last year, but when it arrives it will play a newly redesigned digital dash featuring a pair of attached floating screens and a separate screen instead of a traditional hood on the instrument cluster. Will. Infotainment hub. Digital Dash is also set for regular 2-series coupes.
The M2 has been confirmed to run an isolated version of the latest 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-6 found on the M3 and M4. Peak power should be more than 400 hp, which is significantly higher than the last M2’s 365 hp. BMW M says the new car will give the same performance as the previous M2 CS Limited Edition that came with the 444 hp.

Transmission options are guaranteed to include a 6-speed manual and 8-speed automatic, the drive only going on the rear wheels. The rest of the mechanical package will include adaptive suspension, as well as performance brakes borrowed from the M3 and M4.
The redesigned 2-Series is longer and wider than the replacement car, and will take it to the M2. It should improve stability but weight can be a problem. To help save pounds, the new car will offer a carbon roof and carbon bucket seats (driver and front passenger).
Production will be conducted at BMW Group’s plant in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. This is where regular 2-series coupes are built.
BMW M turns 50 in May and is celebrating throughout the year. It has already released an M4 CSL and will launch an M3 Turing later this month. Also this M2 Plus will have a unique M SUV named XM.
