The 2023 Audi RS 5 gains competitive package options with a top speed of 180-mph

Audi’s RS 5 already offers plenty of out-of-the-box performance, but the hardcore coupe and hatchback for 2023 can be ordered with a competitive package that adds extra style and enhances performance.

The available package includes multiple modifications including adjustable coil-over suspension capable of reducing ride height by 10 mm, front and rear swing bars and a sport exhaust system with black tailpipe. The removal of sound insulation around the firewall also brings more noise to the engine in the cabin and helps reduce carb weight by 18 pounds.

Engineers reduce transmission time by dialing up transmission performance and improving steering system accuracy by introducing a fixed steering ratio of 13.1: 1. The control software for the all-wheel-drive system was also tweaked to provide more power to the rear wheels.

The front axle has improved stopping power with the new carbon-ceramic brake rotor and tweaked ABS software. According to Audi, stopping distances from 60 miles per hour are now less than six feet. Another major upgrade is the new five-spoke alloy that is standard with the Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires.

The RS 5 is capable of hitting 60 mph at rest in 3.7 seconds (3.8 seconds for the RS 5 Sportback) and tops at 155 mph as standard. An earlier Dynamic Plus package raised the maximum speed to 174 mph but the new competition package increased the maximum speed to 180 mph.

No changes were made to the RS5’s powertrain. Underneath the hood you’ll find a 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 that delivers a maximum of 444 hp and 442 pound-feet of torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic and rotates four wheels as standard.

The competition package brings styling tweaks inside and out. In addition to the new wheels mentioned above, there are darker accents for the exterior and cabin, including some carbon fiber components. Darker accents contrast with some red elements, such as the stitching and color of the brake caliper. Buyers also have the option of Sebring Black Crystal Effect Paint which is exclusive to the package.

Before the 2023 RS 5 destination, it will go on sale in June with a starting price of $ 75,900. The competition package is an additional 16,100.
