British coachbuilder Radford has been revived, and his first modern project is a retro sports car inspired by the Lotus Type 62.
The limited edition sports car, built by Lotus Type 62-2 Coach-Radford, is based on the former Lotus Evora platform and first appeared last August. Radford then followed up with a range-topping version dubbed John Player Special last December.
Radford plans to begin delivery of the car later this year, but the company has announced some major upgrades before production begins. These include lightweight subframes and suspension upholstery from Rock Engineering, which has helped reduce vehicle weight. The engine now sits below and near the center of the vehicle, thanks to changes made by JUBU Performance, further optimizing the center of gravity. A new dry-sump lubrication system and custom drainage have also been installed, which helps to improve strength.

No new performance numbers were released. As a guideline, the company has previously announced that the Base Classic model will come with 430 hp, mid-range Gold Leaf 500 hp and range-topping John Player Special 600 hp. Each case has the familiar 3.5-liter supercharged V-6 that has been shared with donor Avora.
We should have more details after the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK later this month. Radford will be present, with co-owner Johnson holding the button in his hand to climb the Goodwood Mountains.
The Goodwood Festival runs June 23-26. For more coverage of the event, visit our Dedicated Hub.
