While the 911 platform defines itself as Porsche’s most iconic model in its historic fleet of performance cars, the adventurer Kevin continues his legacy as the second to the German automotive manufacturer. The Porsche is proud to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Cayenne, looking back at its humble beginnings as the brand’s first production luxury SUV, which now features five generations that showcase its innovation and evolution. Finding its position under the design and performance aspects from 959, the Porsche Cayenne now stands as a potential successor to the famous supercar of the 1980s. The idea behind Cayenne’s development began as Project ‘Colorado’, a joint venture between Porsche and Volkswagen that would launch a completely new Touareg off-roader. Porsche has established its efforts by designing two in-house V8 engines, a 4.5-liter naturally aspirated V8 and an upgraded version that creates more power from a twin-turbocharged system.

The first-generation Porsche Cayenne was nicknamed the E1 and has several similarities to the Dakar Rally 959, an off-road platform that can withstand desert racing events as well as daily driving. The most impressive area of the Cayenne falls under chassis technology, where the SUV demonstrates its true versatility and durability. The 2002 Porsche Cayenne was equipped with sophisticated features such as an electronically controlled all-wheel-drive system, air suspension, lockable center differential, a gearbox with true low-range transfer mode, and anti-roll bars. Can be hydraulically decoupled in hard terrain. Porsche development driver Walter Rohrell, who was present at the scene of Cain’s birth, expressed surprise by saying, “I thought they were not serious. I was sure it could not handle these huge obstacles. But it did. It really fascinated me. ” Now, 20 years later, Rohrel travels to Porsche to see and feel all the Cain and Panamara generation in front of him in Pete Lane at the Leipzig Experience Center.
