Pagani Huayra gets long tail treatment with Codalunga

Just weeks after the release of Pagani Huara’s successor, a supercar is currently circulating under the C10 code name, but the Italian company surprised us on Thursday with another version of Huara, Kodalunga, the Italian “Longtail”.

The car was created by Pagani’s special project division, known as the Pagani Grandi Complicazioni, and only five will be built, each priced from 7 million euros (about $ 7.36 million). Even at the level of bleeding through that nose, five build slots are claimed to have been sold.

The idea for Huara Kodalunga came from two fans of the brand. They approached Pagani in 2018 and requested a long-tail version of the Huawei, reminiscent of a 1960s Grand Race car with a streamline design. Colors and materials were also chosen to commemorate those early racers, although there are still modern touches, such as exposed carbon fiber.

The work I got in the car was extensive. The design phase alone took two years, a process involving the creation of quarter- and full-scale models. And despite running only a five-unit, the car was also built to be approved for road use around the world.

Then there is Pagani’s tendency for detailed attention. A prime example of this is the machining of aluminum components from a single block to the cabin, reminiscent of manual techniques of the past, when the parts were individually polished by hand.

The Huara Kodalunga body is made of a lightweight composite, 14.17 inches longer than the standard Huara cover for the extended engine cover for the extended tail of the car. Despite having a long body, the Kodalunga has a dry weight of 2,822 pounds, about 154 pounds less than the Huara.

Weight-saving systems include the lack of a rear grille and the addition of titanium extraction. Missing grilles on the back also get you a clean look at the car exhaust system.

Power comes from the same twin-turbocharged 6.-0-liter V-12 found in Huawei, but the output is pumped up to 827 hp and 811 lb-ft of torque. The drive is via a rear-wheel 7-speed sequential transmission. Fake pieces of wheels measuring 20 inches at the front and 21 inches at the rear, and have carbon-ceramic brakes. The tires are the Pirelli P Zero Corsas measuring 265/30 on the front and 355/25 on the rear.

No performance specifications are specified, but the 0-60 mph time is below 3.0 seconds and the maximum speed is likely to reach 220 miles per hour, due to similar performance levels to other Huara models.
