New Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 E-Performance Shows What Electric GT Racing Will Do

The electric revolution in the automotive world is hitting the track.

With an electric future for racing Porsche Mission R’s vision is becoming a reality at a speed that is lightning fast. In the beginning, the mission was no longer terribly distant. It used the chassis of the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport, and tasked the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 ePerformance with testing the mission R’s technology to test the real-world performance of Mission R.

The 718 Cayman GT4 ePerformance has already proven that the concept of Mission R can be implemented with the same performance as the current 992 generation 911 GT3 Cup. With all-wheel drive and a power output of up to a maximum of 1,073 horsepower, the 718 Cayman GT4 E-Performance is by no means an incredible, electric vehicle for a race car. However, this is just the beginning of the amazing technology in the e-performance GT4. Even in an electric car, the kind of power that the ePerformance GT4 is producing comes with severe heat. Direct oil cooling for the motor and battery helps the “racing mode” power output for half an hour, which is the duration of the Carrera Cup race. In addition, the 900-volt technology enables the ePerformance GT4 to charge 5 to 80 percent of the battery in just 15 minutes. The tragic changes in the racing world are no longer predictable.
