Production of the pickup version continues, with the 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV testing off-road in Moab ahead of its planned launch next year.
A recent LinkedIn post by General Motors President Mark Reus shows the Hummer EV SUV prototype on Utah’s off-road playground trail. Production is expected to begin in early 2023, Reus said. Reeves did not say how well it was doing, but no automaker would do so at this point in the testing process.
Unveiled in 2021, the SUV version of the GMC Hummer EV will have the same spec sheet as the 2022 GMC Hummer EV pickup truck, but it will be smaller and potentially more off-road.

The SUV rides on a 126.7-inch wheelbase, which is quite long but still 8.9 inches shorter than the pickup. This will give it a better exit and breakover angle, as well as a turning circle 35.4 feet — 1.7 feet shorter than the pickup.
Like the Hummer EV pickup, the SUV will be available with crabwalk features that use four-wheeled steering for side tactics. Extract mode, which can increase ride height from the standard 9.9 inches to 15.9 inches, and GM’s supercruise hands-free highway driver-assist system will also be available.

Less expensive Hummer EV SUV models are also coming. A Hummer EV3X version priced at 99,995 will follow version 1 delivery with the same tri-motor powertrain in the spring of 2023, such as a dual-motor EV2X with a base price of $ 89,995. According to GMC, both should offer a range of more than 300 miles. Finally, a 250-mile dual-motor EV2 model is expected to arrive in the spring of 2024 with a base price of $ 79,995.
