McLaren Artura is getting a GT4 racing variant. Debuting at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed, it replaces the 570S GT4 with McLaren’s low-end customer race car.
Compared to the GT3 class which is the domain of the McLaren 720S GT3, there are more limitations on changing the GT4. So the Artura GT4 retains most of the bodywork of the road car, but creates more downforce on the track with a large front splitter, dive plane, a front groove and a rear spoiler.
However, since the GT4 rules do not allow hybrid powertrains, McLaren had to exclude electrical components from Arthur’s powertrain. Recall that the Artura Road car is a plug-in hybrid with an twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V-6 and an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission with an integrated electric motor.

Instead, the Artura GT4 only gets the V-6, with a 7-speed gearbox that is unique to race cars. The Mt38 used in the V-6 570S GT4 is lighter than the M838 twin-turbo 3.8-liter V-8, McLaren said in a press release, eliminating the 286-pound shaved plug-in hybrid system compared to the Artura Road car. , Including good throttle response and fuel economy.
McLaren did not discuss the output, but we do know that the V-6 Artura Road car produces 577 hp and 431 pound-feet of torque, without electrical assistance. The final output of the Artura GT4 will probably depend on the balance of performance calculations.
McLaren has installed a 24-gallon fuel cell with motorsport-spec fuel pump and moved low-temperature radiators inside to protect against on-track damage. The Artura GT4 features a mechanical limited-slip differential.

The Artura’s new McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture (MCLA) tub facilitates entry and exit on the 570 GT4’s MonoCell design, which, according to McLaren, helps speed up driver change. These drivers sit in a fixed FIA 8862-spec seat with a 720S GT3-inspired steering wheel (actually more than a yoke) facing, adjustable pedals.
Since the Artura GT4 is a consumer race car designed for drivers of various skill levels, it also gets a handful of driver assistance. Race-tuned anti-lock brakes and traction control are standard, while tire-pressure monitors, a collision-avoidance system and ride-height sensors are optional. Other options include a V-box telemetry, a damper potentiometer that measures the suspension position, a brake infrared sensor, extra lighting for night racing and a drinking arrangement.
