Ferrari is reportedly adding an EV line to Maranello, details coming June 16th

Ferrari It is said to be planning to expand its Maranello plant to include a third production line dedicated to electric vehicles.

As reported by BloombergPransing Horse has reportedly acquired land near its Maranello plant and is clearing space for a new line.

According to an undisclosed source, the new production line will be exclusively dedicated to the production of hybrid and electric vehicles (EVs).

They further hinted that the expansion of production facilities would probably include a new Battery Research and Development (R&D) center.

Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna is expected to give details of the new project on June 16 on Capital Market Day, with more details about its EV strategy and business roadmap for the next four years.

The former STMicroelectronics executive was appointed CEO of the Italian automaker in June 2021 to accelerate the use of cutting-edge technology.

Earlier in 2022, Ferrari detailed an organizational reshuffle that pointed to its electrified future and focused on its 2030 carbon neutral commitment.

Pransing Horse has expanded its leadership team by promoting internal talent and has strengthened it through a number of external recruits from technology backgrounds.

Ferrari’s local division recently said its electrification measures have been “well received” by local and foreign customers.

In April 2021, Ferrari’s interim CEO John Elkan confirmed that Ferrari must build an all-electric car and that it would be unveiled in 2025.

Ferrari already has 296 GTB and 296 GTS plug-in hybrid (PHEV) supercars powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine with an electric motor in the engine and dual-clutch transmission. Total system output power for both models is 610kW.

The Pransing Horse also offers the SF90 PHEV supercar powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 and three electric motors. Total system output is 735kW and 800Nm of torque.

Earlier in 2022, Pranning Horse said it would operate the “exclusivity” of its first SUV, the Purosangue.

Mr Vigna recently confirmed the matter Reuters That Purosangue will be available with a V12 engine.

As previously reported, Care Expert Understand V12 will be naturally ambitious and Purosangue will be available with other powertrain options. It is hoped that these other powertrains will include electrified options.

Pictures of the upcoming Ferrrari Purosangue have recently been leaked showing the body parts of the four-door coupe SUV, as well as the front of an official teaser.

This SUV will seat four passengers and is based on a new front mid-engine architecture.

It is understood that Purosangue’s platform is capable of supporting both hybrid and PHEV powertrains.

The two all-electric SUVs and Purosangue are expected to follow suit.
