Cyan Racing’s Wild Volvo P1800 Ristomode Goes to Production

Swedish racing team Cyan Racing, a team that previously worked as a polyester until Volvo took the name, will soon begin accepting orders for its first Wild P1800 RestMode, shown in 2020.

Although the car is not cheap. Engine 1 Learned that the price starts at $ 700,000 and Cyan Racing will start accepting orders after the Motorsports Gathering on August 9 at The Quail.

Prices are steep but change is extensive. Starting with a donor P1800, the body is rebuilt using modern materials to improve rigidity. We are not just talking about replacing the panels, we are talking about increasing the width as well as relocating the greenhouses. The changes allow Cyan Racing to install a modern suspension system as well as 18-inch wheels, in this case the Pirelli P Zero tire-wrapped center-lock wheel set.

There is also a modern power train. Cyan Racing replaces the original 1.8-liter Inline-4 for a 2.0-liter turbocharged Inline-4. The engine is the same as the former Volvo S60 Polestar and produces 420 hp and 336 lb-ft of torque. It may not sound like much, but the P1800 RestMode weighs less than 2,200 pounds.

The transmission is a 5-speed manual from Hollinger, chosen to maintain the mechanical feel of the original P1800 but capable of handling the high torque of modern engines. And to keep the driving feeling close to the original, there is no electronic aid like ABS or stability control.

For shoppers to spend extra cash, Cyan Racing plans to offer a longer list of personalization options. From the color to the interior trim to the chassis configuration everything the buyer can decide to buy.
