You will only be 50 years old once, and BMW’s M division is using it the most.
Its latest anniversary release is a special one 50 years Version of BMW M3 And BMW M4.
The special M3 is being manufactured only for the US and Canada, with only 500 units running, but the M4 50 Jahre is being produced for China, Europe and “other selected sales areas”.
We contacted BMW Australia to confirm if we were one of those regions.
BMW has not confirmed exactly how many special M4s will be produced.
The M4 50 Jahre will be available on both the Standard, Competition and Competition Xdrive models, the former combined with a twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six with a 353kW / 550Nm tune with a six-speed manual transmission and the next two with 375kW. / 650Nm tune and an eight-speed automatic.
The Chinese-market M4 50 Jahre will also commemorate the Year of the Tiger with a choice of Matt Orbit Gray imitation wheels with Fire Orange paint or Matt Gold bronze wheels with Stratus Gray paint.
For Europe and other selected regions, there is a choice of Carbon Black, Macau Blue, Brands Hatch Gray, Emola Red and San Marino Blue exterior finishes.
Orbit Gray or Gold Bronze is finished with a choice of matte finish with 19-inch M fake wheels on the front and 20-inch wheels on the back.
All 50 Zahre models will come with imprinted branded door seal panels, a center console-mounted metal panel, and a standard M sports seat or optional M carbon bucket seat.
The M3 50 Jahre has an arguably more exciting color palette.
It will be available exclusively in competition xDrive camouflage for the United States and Canada, and each of the 500 cars will end up inspired by the past BMW M color.
Solid Cinnabar Red comes from E30 M3, Techno Violet from E36 M3, Deep Interlagos Blue from E46 M3, Fire Orange from E92 M3 Lime Rock Park Edition and Limerick Gray from F80 M3 CS.
The blue and purple finish will be exclusive to the 50 Jahre version.
They are finished with fake wheels with an Orbit Gray matte finish, and are available with a range of BMW M performance parts, such as carbon-fiber front splitter and carbon / titanium extraction outlets.
Inside, the headrest has the M division stripe instead of the 50-year-old character.
BMW has gone all out on its 50th anniversary, releasing a hot M4 CSL and plans to launch a production version of its Concept XM by the end of the year.
More could come, too.
The M3 CS sedan and M3 Turing wagon are expected to be released this year, while the M4 CSL is a manual transmission-equipped replica known as the M4 GT / H.
