2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV Spy Shot: Electric Medium Size SUV Seen

An electric Chevrolet Blazer is coming next year as a 2024 model and we have a new spy shot that looks like a prototype of a new battery-powered medium-sized SUV.

The prototype is heavily camouflaged, but we can already see that the design is very different from the current internal-combustion blazer that Chevy could still keep on the market for a few years. It only came for the 2019 model year.

Importantly, the prototype has a number of elements that match the design details shown in a teaser video released in March and depict a range-topping SS version of the electric blazer. The components we highlighted include the shape of the front fender and the size of the charging port that make up the front fender and the driver’s side.

The prototype lights are still temporary units but we can assume that there will be a light bar along the front edge of the front hood that will act as daytime running light, planned for Chevy’s 2024 Silverado EV and 2024 Equinox EV. The prototype was wrapped in 275/45-size Michelin tires with 21-inch wheels.

Inside the Blazer EV is an 11.0-inch digital instrument cluster and a 17.0-inch center touchscreen found in a 2023 Silverado EV pickup truck. It’s the same hardware (and probably programming) as the GMC Hummer EV’s new infotainment system.

The underpinning of the Blazer EV should be General Motors’ Ultium platform and batteries, which debuted at the 2022 GMC Hummer EV. Altium Technology 2023 also features the Cadillac Lyric, a vehicle that will most likely match the Blazer EV under the skin. The Lyriq has a 100-kilowatt-hour battery and a rear-mounted motor rated at 340 hp. A dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup is planned, though its specs have not been announced.

GM is committed to launching 20 electric vehicles in North America by the end of 2023. Others in the pipeline include a pair of SUVs for Buick, a compact crossover, a medium-sized SUV, Celestiq flagship sedan and Escalade EV for Cadillac, and a Sierra for an electric GMC.
