Its teaser campaign 2023 Amarok Continues, with Volkswagen Reveal the long awaited ute’s tailgate.
We will see the UT complete on July 7, 2022 and the car will arrive locally in early 2023.
That puts it at least six months or more behind the next-generation Ford Ranger, with which it shares its foundation.
The latest teaser shows a set of more eye-catching LED tail lights, while a V6 badge points to the continued availability of a V6 engine – a rarity in this category.
Instead of a Volkswagen engine, however, it will be taken from Ford
In Ranger, Ford’s 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V6 produces 184kW of power and 600Nm of torque. It is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, along with a full-time four-wheel drive system.
Volkswagen’s current Amarok flagship, the W580, generates 190kW and 580Nm from its 3.0-liter displacement.
Unlike Ford, Volkswagen will avoid halogen headlights for its low-specific models. All grades will have LED or matrix LED.

Past teasers of Amarok’s front-end and interior, for example, reveal a wider level of visual differences between Volkswagen and Ford than the Isuzu D-Max and Mazda BT-50 twins.
This is in line with what we have heard from VW, which has previously promised that it will pack “real Volkswagen DNA” when it launches.
“This car is something our designers in both Melbourne and Europe have been working tirelessly over the last few years to bring a car that we know is the ultimate in Volkswagen,” said Ryan Davis, Australia’s national sales manager for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.
Developed by teams from Australia and Europe, the latest version of the so-called ute will be produced in the future in Silverton, South Africa.
The current model has been assembled in Argentina, and the Ranger will continue to come from Thailand, in contrast.
Volkswagen Commercial promises new-to-segment driver-assistance features, higher off-road capabilities, more comfortable and premium interior, and a significantly redesigned body.
In the absence of the Ranger Raptor-based flagship, it will again partner with the up-spec version of Amarok, locally tuned to Wakinshow.
Such a model will appear at the end of 2024. This is less than the current W-Series models, which came almost a decade after the launch of the first generation Amarok.
The current W-Series Amaroks adds features from the new seats and stickers via Operated Suspension, Body Protection, Rock Rail, Wheels and Tires and Lighting.
They are sold to Volkswagen dealers and have a normal factory warranty
Volkswagen executives in Europe have also spoken of the possibility of an electric version during Amarok’s life cycle.
Autocar It is known that this Amarok EV may be launched in Europe in 2025.
Ford will launch a plug-in hybrid version of the Ranger by 2024, but is not satisfied with the electrical range of the plug-in hybrid, according to Lars Krauss, a member of the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle Board responsible for marketing Volkswagen.
Volkswagen is also set to launch a pair of electric off-roader – an SUV, a UT – in North America in 2026 under the revived Scout nameplate, although it is unlikely to share anything with Amarok.
