Mercedes-Benz Revealed his vital, second generation GLC With a range of mid-size SUVs, electric powertrains, and styling taken from the new C-Class.

The new Mercedes-Benz GLC is expected to be the first Australian to arrive The first half of 2023. More details about the local range, including price and engine lineup, will be released near its launch.

Since the new C-Class Wagon or All-Terrain crossover form is not offered in Australia, GLC will be needed to fill this gap and based on the success of the car in contrast to the BMW X3 and Audi Q5.

Mercedes-Benz has previously confirmed that the new GLC will be available internationally with soft-hybrid petrol and diesel powertrains as well as three plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains.

All three powertrains are a starter-alternator with a 48V gentle-hybrid system that produces 17kW and 200Nm. It both improves low-speed smoothing and adds energy jolt under acceleration.

There are also three plug-in hybrid powertrains available worldwide – two petrol and one diesel – all of which demand an all-electric driving range. More than 100 kilometers According to WLTP testing.

Finally, GLC300de 4Matic A single electric motor powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine that produces total system output 245 kW And 750Nm. Mercedes-Benz claims that it can do 0-100 km / h sprint in 6.4 seconds.

The GLC300e and GLC400e have a claimed electric-only WLTP range 104-120 kmWhen the GLC300de has a claimed range 102-117 km.

All GLC models have a nine-speed automatic transmission with a four-wheel drive via a 4matic all-wheel drive system.

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC range has the following claimed combined fuel consumption statistics as per WLTP test:

  • GLC200 and GLC300: 7.3-8.2L / 100km
  • GLC220d: 5.2-5.9L / 100km
  • GLC300e and GLC400e: 0.6-0.8L / 100km
  • GLC300de: 0.5-0.7L / 100km

GLC’s PHEV versions will be able to fully charge a high-voltage battery in 30 minutes with an optional 60kW DC charger. As standard these models will be able to charge at 11kW on AC mains.

The new GLC SUV is built on the same MRA 2 bone as the current C-Class and S-Class models and is longer.

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC is now measuring 4716 mm Long, 60 mm longer than its predecessor, and has a wheelbase length 2888 mmWhich is 15 mm long.

The width of the car remains the same 1890 mmAnd it is 4 mm less than its predecessor 1640 mm Tall

Thanks to the long rear overhang, the new GLC now has one 600L Boot all seats upright, 50L increase compared to outgoing GLC. The second row seats are folded in a 40:20:40 configuration and a power tailgate comes standard.

The new GLC 0.29 is more aerodynamic with drag co-efficient, which is two hundredth better than its predecessor.

As standard, the GLC has new four-link suspension on the front and a multi-link independent rear suspension. AMG line models get sport suspension, and air suspension with adjustable damping is available as an option.

Like other recent Mercedes-Benz cars, it will be available with GLC and a rear-axle steering system that reduces turning curves from 90cm to 10.9m.

At speeds of less than 60km / h, the rear wheels rotate at opposite angles to the front wheels at an angle of 4.5 degrees, and at 60km / h the rear wheels also rotate the front wheels in the same direction at an upper angle up to 4.5 degrees.

On the front, there are more aggressive front bumpers and headlights attached to the grille, which “emphasizes the width of the car”.

There are LED headlights as standard, but adaptive digital lighting headlights are available as an alternative. They are capable of acting like ordinary matrix LED headlights but can also project guide lines, symbols and animations.

The GLC signature SUV all around retains the silhouette but combines it with smooth lines like recent Mercedes-Benz offers.

There will be a range of 18- to 20-inch size alloy wheels and moving boards will be available as an option.

Tail lights are attached and they have a three dimensional appearance. There is also a chrome-look around the Fox exhaust pipe.

Inside, the new GLC is heavily inspired by the C-Class. It has a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The system runs second-generation MBUX infotainment software, including a voice assistant that can be triggered by the phrase ‘Hey Mercedes’.

It includes a special off-road menu and drive mode, as well as an optional “transparent bonnet” mode as part of the surround-view camera system.

There’s also a new panoramic sunroof with a slimmer cross-strut, an optional 15-speaker Burmester sound system, and optional multi-contour seats that have an extended massage function.

On the safety front, Mercedes-Benz has improved adaptive cruise control to respond to stationary vehicles at speeds of up to 100 km / h. Earlier this speed was 60 km / h.

Other new security features include extra lane detection thanks to the surround-view camera. It is also capable of creating an emergency corridor at low speeds, and features red light and stop sign detection.

There is an optional trailer maneuvering support that can autonomously perform reverse techniques with the trailer at an angle of up to 90 degrees.

The high-performance GLC43 and GLC63 AMG models are expected to follow this original GLC range at some point, followed by the adoption of a turbocharged four-cylinder PHEV powertrain.

As mentioned above, more information about the local Mercedes-Benz GLC range will be announced near its launch in the first half of 2023.
