Extended-length Land Rover Defender 130 Revealed, proposing up to eight seats.
Local launch times and specifications have not yet been announced; Stay tuned Care Expert June 1 for more details.
The extra length of the 130 is entirely in overhang, as the eight-seater Defender 110 runs a uniform 3022mm wheelbase with the 110.
It is 340 mm long and 5358 mm long. It is 378 mm longer than the Toyota Landcruiser 300 Series, 154 mm longer than a Jeep Grand Cherokee L and 115 mm longer than a Mercedes-Benz GLS.
Land Rover says the third row has comfortable seating for three adults. 110 offers a third row seat, but there are only two seats and they are most suitable for children.
Third-row occupants enjoy air vents, padded armrests, storage, USB-C outlets and available heated seats, as well as a sunroof over them.
Above the first two rows there is a panoramic sunroof, while rows two and three enjoy a small “stadium hike” to enhance their visibility.
ISOFIX child seat anchor points are located in the front passenger seats and in the second and third row outboard seats.
Exclusive to Four-Zone Climate Control Defender 130. There is 389L boot space with three rows, more than 110L to 100L.
Land Rover Defender 130 will offer, at least in some markets, with a choice of five or eight seats. Luggage capacity differs between the two: the eight-seater model has 1232L in the third row folding, while the five-seater model has 1329L on all seats.
It extends to 2291L and 2516L respectively.
Moving to the front of the cabin, the Defender 130 uses the 11.4-inch PV Pro infotainment system found in the Defender 90 and 110 models.
There’s a new Natural Light Oak engineered wood veneer finish, with the Land Rover 130 debuting its new Cabin Air Purification Plus.
These features include nanoe X allergen reduction and pathogen removal technology, and you can use your smartphone to activate the purge function before entering the car.
A range of Ingenium 48V Mild-Hybrid Inline-Six turbocharged petrol and diesel engines will be available depending on the market.
There are 221kW / 470Nm and 294kW / 550Nm P300 and P400 petrol engines, as well as 184kW / 600Nm and 221kW / 650Nm D250 and D300 diesel.
The 0-100km / h time for petrol engines is 8.0 seconds and 6.6 seconds, respectively, while the diesel dash is 8.9 and 7.5 seconds respectively.
Like the 90’s and 110’s, an eight-speed ZF-sourced automatic transmission and all-wheel drive standard.
The standard air suspension allows an additional 71.5 mm at the front and 73.5 mm at the rear, and can carry up to 130 to 900 mm of water.
Towing capacity up to 3000 kg.
The 1491mm-long overhang defender affected the exit angle of 130. This is 28.5 degrees off-road altitude of the air suspension, compared to 40 degrees at the similarly configured 110.
The approach and rampover angles are at 37.5 degrees and 27.8 degrees.
In addition to the long rear overhang, the 130K can be distinguished by a unique Sedona Red exterior color and an extended bright pack that includes Ceres Silver Satin-Finished Lower Body Cladding and Noble Chrome Skid Plate.
With the new Range Rover Sport losing its third tier option, Land Rover buyers now have a choice between Defender and Discovery in this part of the market.
Defender has proven to be popular in Australia. Land Rover sold 533 units by the end of April, while it sold only 69 instances of its invention.
Defender’s Tally puts it above the Audi Q7’s (401) preference and could further boost the 130 Defender’s sales.
