2023 Land Rover Defender 130 debuts May 31, promises seating for 8

Land Rover Defender is soon ready to create a third body style in the form of the expanded Defender 130.

Shown for the first time in a teaser shot released on Wednesday, the new Defender 130 will debut in the world on May 31 and has been confirmed to arrive in the United States as a 2023 model.

Defender 130 will boast up to eight seats in three rows, including two in the first row and three in the second and third rows.

From the spy shots of the prototype we know that the Defender 130 will match the 119-inch wheelbase of the Defender 110. The extra length will come from an extended rear that is expected to bring the overall length of the car above 200 inches. The Defender 110 also has three rows, but the third row of this body style has only two small seats which are only suitable for small children.

If you are thinking, the numerical elements of different Defender names are related to the original Defender, while they are roughly related to the wheelbase length.

It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. It is possible that Defender 130 will avoid the Defender’s entry-level 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 and will instead offer mid-range 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 and light-hybrid powertrain and range-topping V-8. Other markets also have a plug-in hybrid alternative to the Defender that combines a 2.0-liter engine with an electric motor and we also see this powertrain offered in the Defender 130.

The expansion of the Defender family will not end with the arrival of Defender 130. Land Rover is also testing a hardcore version of Defender 110 that could challenge the Ford Bronco Raptor and Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392. For 2023, North American shoppers will be treated to the 30th anniversary edition of Defender, a limited-edition model marking the 30th anniversary of the official launch of the Defender nameplate in the region.

Stay tuned.
