It’s a lot to see Ford It may have some extended plans for the new generation Ranger ute
On June 3, we parked at an IKEA in Melbourne and were able to capture exclusive images that looked like a longer version of the Ford Ranger.
Apparently normal from the cabin forward, this Speed Ranger prototype has a longer tub than the regular double-cab unit with left-hand drive and extra space between its rear door and rear wheels. On the right is a side-exit exhaust.

The Spide prototype just fits into the carpark, and it looks smaller than the Toyota Yaris parked in front of it.
Although Ford Australia did not provide detailed external dimensions for the regular Ranger unit, Ford Thailand says the regular double-cab high-rider is 5370 mm long, 1918 mm wide and 1884 mm wide with 3270 mm wheelbase.
According to the build label for the long tub of the Spide prototype, it was produced in China in December 2021 and is the only one.
Inside the tub is a 400V inverter with a 12V socket and a US-style power plug. Australian-bound Ranger models do not currently receive this 400V inverter.

A strange omission from the long tub of this spide prototype is the entry step behind the rear wheels. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.
As previously detailed, Ford Australia has once again led the global development program for the Ranger unit.

Ford Australia currently offers Ranger UT with a total of four different turbocharged powertrains.
These include a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel that produces 125kW of power and 405Nm of torque, a 2.0-liter bi-turbo four-cylinder diesel that produces 154kW and 500Nm, a 3.0-liter six-cylinder and 4-cylinder 405Nm of torque. 600Nm, and a 3.0-liter twin-turbo petrol V6 produces 292kW and 583Nm.
The latter of these engines is currently reserved for the Baja-Ready Ranger Raptor.
Extended-wheelbase utis is not a strange concept, as automakers like Ssangyong, LDV and Volkswagen are already offering manufacturer-supported options.
Ssangyong currently offers its Muso dual-cab in a long-wheelbase XLV camouflage.
It comes with a 300mm long tub that provides an additional 251L of capacity. The wheelbase is 110 mm longer than the regular Mussoorie.

Volkswgen Amarok XL
Other additions include an additional 20Nm of torque, bringing the total to 420Nm, and extra payload capacity.
Volkswagen has been offering Amarok Ute since 2020 in two different long-wheelbase modes.
The Volkswagen Amarok XL and XXL are factory-backed conversions operated locally by the Adelaide firm Adaptive Automotive.
The Amarok XL has a 310mm long wheelbase and the Amarok XXL has a 650mm long wheelbase.
In addition to the extra wheelbase length, Volkswagen reprogrammed the electronic stability control to compensate for the longer wheelbase. There are also three centers of gravity height program.

As previously detailed, the regular Ford Ranger UT will reach the Australian coast in July 2022, followed by the Ranger-based Everest SUV and the Ranger Raptor in August.
